New Guidelines Establish Best Treatment for Menopause

Menopausal symptoms may last as many as 14 years according to recent research and often impair a woman’s health and quality of life. Hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, vaginal dryness and sleeplessness are just a short list of the symptoms that many women struggle with at the onset of perimenopause and menopause. These symptoms are often related to the sharp declines in estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone that accompany the inevitable transition. What can women do to safely and effectively treat menopause symptoms? A new set of guidelines established by the Endocrine Society help patient and their doctors determine the best course of treatment.
